Measuring the HR Function

Measuring the HR function
The decision to establish or expand HR functions is often based on what could be called intuition. Not on a financial based business case.
Since no actual measuring tools exist in this area, obviously
it is very difficult to document the ROI from investments in
an HR function; which is likely to be the reason why HR
functions often are hit first and hard when companies are
forced to cut cost.
In our opinion, this situation is highly unsatisfactory.
Therefore, we have designed a tool that can describe
the value of an HR function.
The result of this work is presented in the book along
with some central considerations of the process, which
offers managers in and around HR functions some
concrete tools to enable them to measure the HR function.
This book contains instructions about how to measure a
given HR function’s influence on the operations and
development of the business organization; about how
to measure a given HR function’s productivity; and about
how, based on this data, it is possible to carry out an
estimation of the level of profitability of an HR function.
