Man - Machine - System

Man – Machine – System
Back in 1990, the Danish Government – more precisely ‘The Advisory Board of Technology’ reporting to ‘the Industry and Trade Agency’ – financed a project initiated and led by a group of consultants employed by the ‘Danish Institute of Technology’.
The project was launched in order to identify why Danish industry - despite massive investment during the 1970th and ’80th in new technology - did not gain any productivity increase and how to harvest the productivity potential.
As a kind of living laboratory, Danish Institute of Technology invited three companies to take part of the project.
This booklet describes very briefly the background, the main content that was later named ‘Innovative leadership’ and the outcome of the project.
It describes how the companies increased productivity by up to 30% by communicating a clear strategy and by involving the employees in identifying relevant areas and ways of improvements.
The three companies involved were Esselte Dymo A/S, PHØNIX Tag and Arcodan.
